2aBlow a trumpet in Zion,And makealoudshout on My holymountain!Let all the inhabitants of the landtremble,For the bday of Yahweh is coming;Surely it is near,2A day of adarkness and thickdarkness,A day of clouds and densegloom.As the dawn is spreadover the mountains,So there is a bnumerous and mightypeople;There has cnever beenanythinglike it,Nor will there be againafter itFor the years from generationtogeneration.3A afireconsumesbefore them,And behind them a flameburns.The land is blike the garden of Edenbefore themBut a cdesolatewildernessbehind them,And nothingatallescapes them.4Their aappearance is like the appearance of horses;And like war horses, so they run.51With a anoise as of chariotsThey leap on the tops of the mountains,Like the 2crackling of a bflame of fireconsumes the stubble,Like a mightypeoplearranged for battle.6Before them the peoplesareawrithing;Allbfaces1turnpale.7They run like mightymen;They climbup the wall like men of war;And they eachamarch1in line,And they do notdeviate from their paths.8They do not crowdeachother;They marcheveryone in his path;When they fall against the defendingweapons,They do not breakranks.9They rush on the city;They run on the wall;They climbup into the ahouses;They benterthrough the windows like a thief.10Before them the earthatrembles;The heavensquake;The bsun and the moongrowdark,And the stars1lose their brightness.11But Yahwehagives forth His voicebeforebHis militaryforce;Surely His camp is verynumerous,For cmighty is he who does His word.The dday of Yahweh is indeedgreat and veryawesome,And ewho can endure it?

12“Yet evennow,” declaresYahweh,“aReturn to Me with all your heartAnd with bfasting, weeping, and 1wailing;13And atear your heart and not byour garments.”Now return to Yahweh your God,For He is cgracious and compassionate,Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness,And drelenting concerning evil.14Whoknowsawhether He will notturn and relentAnd leave a bblessingbehind Him,Evenca grain offering and a drinkofferingFor Yahweh your God?15aBlow a trumpet in Zion,bSetapart a fastasholy, call for a solemnassembly,16Gather the people, asetapart the congregationasholy,Assemble the elders,Gather the infants and the nursing babies.Let the bbridegroomcomeout of his roomAnd the bride out of her bridalchamber.17Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh,Weepabetween the porch and the altar,And let them say, “bPity Your people, O Yahweh,And do not make Your inheritance a creproach,A byword among the nations.Why should they among the peoplessay,‘dWhere is their God?’”
Yahweh Will Spare His People
18Then Yahweh1will beazealous for His landAnd 2will bspare His people.19Then Yahweh1will answer and say to His people,“Behold, I am going to asend you grain, newwine, and oil,And you will besatisfiedin full with 2them;And I will bneveragainmake you a reproach among the nations.20“But I will remove the anorthernmilitary forcefar from you,And I will drive it into a parched and desolateland,And its vanguard into the beasternsea,And its rear guard into the cwesternsea.And its dstench will riseup, and its foulsmell will riseup,For it has donegreatthings.”21aDo not fear, O land, rejoice and be glad,For Yahweh has donebgreatthings.22Do not fear, beasts of the field,For the apastures of the wilderness have turnedgreen,For the tree has borne its fruit;The figtree and the vine have yielded1their full force.23So rejoice, O asons of Zion,And bbe glad in Yahweh your God,For He has cgiven you 1the earlyrain in righteousness.And He has poureddown for you the rain,The 2early and 3,dlaterains4as before.24The threshingfloors will be full of grain,And the vats will aoverflow with the newwine and oil.25“Then I will payback to you infull for the yearsThat the swarmingalocust has consumed,The creepinglocust, the strippinglocust, and the gnawinglocust,My greatmilitaryforcewhich I sent among you.26“And you will haveplentytoaconsume and besatisfiedAnd bpraise the name of Yahweh your God,Who has cdealtwondrously with you;Then My people will dnever be puttoshame.27“Thus you will aknow that I am in the midst of Israel,And that I am Yahweh your God,And thereisbnoother;And My people will never be cputtoshame.
Yahweh Will Pour Out His Spirit
28“1,aAnd it will be afterwardsThat I will bpourout My Spirit on all2,cmankind;And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy;Your oldmen will dreamdreams;Your youngmen will seevisions.29“Even on the amaleslaves and femaleslavesI will in thosedayspourout My Spirit.
Deliverance in the Day of Yahweh
30“And I will aputwonders in the sky and on the earth,Blood, fire, and columns of smoke.31“The asun will be turned into darknessAnd the moon into bloodBefore the bgreat and awesomeday of Yahwehcomes.32“And it will be that aeveryone who calls on the name of YahwehWill 1be delivered;For bon MountZion and in JerusalemThere will be those whocescape,As Yahweh has said,Even among the dsurvivorswhomYahwehcalls.
