Genesis 22:17

And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;

And He brought him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your seed be.”

Moreover, the angel of Yahweh said to her, “I will greatly multiply your seed so that they will be too many to be counted.”

And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, “May you, our sister, Become thousands of ten thousands, And may your seed possess The gate of those who hate him.”

Now it happened after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi.

“Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your seed I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.

“And I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and I will give your seed all these lands; and by your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;

And Yahweh appeared to him that night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your seed, For the sake of My servant Abraham.”

“May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become an assembly of peoples.

“May He also give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your seed with you, that you may possess the land of your sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.”

“And your seed will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

“For You said, ‘I will surely prosper you and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.’”

The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless these boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”

So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

“Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself, and You said to them, ‘I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens, and all this land of which I have spoken I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

‘So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.

then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.

And God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

“Behold, I have received a command to bless; When He has blessed, then I cannot revoke it.

‘Yahweh your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day like the stars of heaven in number.

“Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons in all, and now Yahweh your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.

“Now nothing from that which is devoted to destruction shall cling to your hand, in order that Yahweh may turn from His burning anger and grant compassion to you and show compassion to you and make you multiply, just as He has sworn to your fathers,

“But I counsel that all Israel be utterly gathered to you, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea in abundance, and that you personally go into battle.

“And Your slave is in the midst of Your people which You have chosen, a numerous people who are too many to be numbered or counted.

Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand that is on the seashore in abundance; they were eating and drinking and being glad.

Which He cut with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.

But David did not take up a count of those twenty years of age and under, because Yahweh had said He would multiply Israel as the stars of heaven.

“Now, O Yahweh God, let Your promise to my father David endure, for You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.

“You made their sons numerous as the stars of heaven, And You brought them into the land Which You had said for their fathers to enter and possess.

“Your seed would have been like the sand, And the offspring from your loins like its grains; Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence.”

‘As the host of heaven cannot be counted and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the seed of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’”

“Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares Lord Yahweh.

Yet the number of the sons of Israel Will be like the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or numbered; And it will be that in the place Where it is said to them, “You are not My people,” It will be said to them, “You are the sons of the living God.”

The oath which He swore to Abraham our father,

For the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.

And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of the sons of Israel be like the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that will be saved;

saying, “I will greatly bless you and I will greatly multiply you.”

Therefore there were born even of one man, and him as good as dead at that, as many as the stars of heaven in number, and innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
