Isaiah 36:6

Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and seized them.

After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

Like an aching tooth and a slipping foot Is trust in a treacherous man in a day of distress.

“Therefore the strong defense of Pharaoh will be your shame And the refuge in the shadow of Egypt, your dishonor.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very mighty, But they do not have regard for the Holy One of Israel, nor seek Yahweh!

And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a heavy military force. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway of the fuller’s field.

‘And Pharaoh with his mighty military force and great assembly will not help him in the war, when they cast up ramps and build siege walls to cut off many lives.

“Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am Yahweh Because they have been only a staff made of reed to the house of Israel.

“When they seized you with the hand, You tore and split open all their shoulders; And when they leaned on you, You broke and made all their loins quake.”

“And it will never again be the security of the house of Israel, bringing to remembrance the iniquity of their having turned to go after Egypt. Then they will know that I am Lord Yahweh.”’”
