Isaiah 13:18

Behold, children are an inheritance of Yahweh, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

O daughter of Babylon, you devastated one, How blessed will be the one who repays you With the recompense with which you have recompensed us.

Its arrows are sharp and all its bows are bent; The hoofs of its horses seem like flint and its chariot wheels like a whirlwind.

Their infants also will be dashed to pieces Before their eyes; Their houses will be plundered And their wives ravished.

“But these two things will come on you suddenly in one day: Loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in full measure In spite of your many sorceries, In spite of the great might of your spells.

“Assemble, all of you, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? Yahweh loves him; he will carry out His good pleasure on Babylon, And His arm will be against the Chaldeans.

“Their quiver is like an open grave; All of them are mighty men.

“They take hold of bow and spear; They are cruel and have no compassion; Their voice roars like the sea, And they ride on horses, Arranged as a man for the battle Against you, O daughter of Zion!”

Therefore, give their children over to famine And deliver them up to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed. Let their men also be smitten to death, Their young men struck down by the sword in battle.

“Therefore her young men will fall in her open squares, And all her men of war will be silenced in that day,” declares Yahweh.

“They seize their bow and javelin; They are cruel and have no compassion. Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, Arranged like a man for the battle Against you, O daughter of Babylon.

And with you I shatter man and woman, And with you I shatter old man and youth, And with you I shatter choice man and virgin,

“This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENE’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it.
