Lamentations 2:5

“Why do You hide Your face And think of me as Your enemy?

You have broken down all his walls; You have beset his strongholds with ruin.

I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of mourning and moaning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.

Therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, My anger and My wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast and on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and not be quenched.”

‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, “Behold, I am about to turn back the weapons of war which are in your hands, with which you are warring against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the wall; and I will gather them into the center of this city.

‘All your lovers have forgotten you; They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your iniquity is numerous And your sins are mighty.

The Lord has swallowed up; He has not spared All the habitations of Jacob. In His wrath He has pulled down The strongholds of the daughter of Judah; He has brought them down to the ground; He has profaned the kingdom and its princes.
