‘Outside the sword will bereave, And inside terror— Both choice man and virgin, The nursing baby with the man of gray hair.

Fire devoured His choice men, And His virgins had no wedding songs.

The roads of Zion are in mourning Because no one comes to the appointed times. All her gates are desolate; Her priests are sighing, Her virgins are grieving, And she herself is bitter.

You have covered Yourself with anger And pursued us; You have killed and have not spared.
