Psalm 28:1

Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship, All those who go down to the dust will bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.

O Yahweh, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit.

“What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

You have seen it, O Yahweh, do not keep silent; O Lord, do not be far from me.

May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit shut its mouth on me.

A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain at rest; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be quiet.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like a man without strength,

For the choir director. Of David. A Psalm. O God of my praise, Do not be silent!

Answer me quickly, O Yahweh, my spirit wastes away; Do not hide Your face from me, Or I will become like those who go down to the pit.

Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, as those who go down to the pit;

“For Sheol cannot thank You; Death cannot praise You; Those who go down to the pit cannot keep watch for Your truth.
