Psalm 115:8

“And there you will serve gods, the work of man’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.

And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men’s hands.

Their idols are silver and gold, The work of man’s hands.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, The work of man’s hands.

Their land has also been filled with idols; They worship the work of their hands, That which their fingers have made.

As for the graven images, a craftsman casts it, A goldsmith plates it with gold, And a silversmith fashions chains of silver.

Behold, you are nothing, And your work is non-existent; He who chooses you is an abomination.

Can man make gods for himself? Yet they are not gods!

but you have raised yourself up against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines have been drinking wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which do not see, hear, or know. But the God in whose hand are your life-breath and all your ways, you have not honored.

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season. But they came to Baal-peor and devoted themselves to shame, And they became as detestable as that which they loved.

“What profit is the graven image when its maker has engraved it, Or a molten image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his own making When he fashions speechless idols.
