And Aaron’s son Eleazar took one of the daughters of Putiel as a wife, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites according to their families.

So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses, and about three thousand men of the people fell that day.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them previously, and Yahweh was with him.

And it was counted to him for righteousness, From generation to generation forever.

“My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as something to be feared; so he feared Me and stood in awe of My name.

“But as for you, you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by the instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” says Yahweh of hosts.
