Luke 11:16

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered and said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.

Now as the crowds were increasing, He began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it seeks a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah.

They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have evidence to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground.
