Luke 1:15

“Do not drink wine or strong drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, so that you will not die—it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations—

he shall abstain as a Nazirite from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar, whether made from wine or strong drink, nor shall he drink any grape juice nor eat fresh or dried grapes.

“So now, be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing.

“For behold, you shall be with child and give birth to a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

“Before I formed you in the innermost parts I knew you, And before you came out from the womb I set you apart; I have given you as a prophet to the nations.”

But they said, “We will not drink wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall not drink wine, you or your sons, forever.

“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’

“For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
