Jeremiah 51:58

O daughter of Babylon, you devastated one, How blessed will be the one who repays you With the recompense with which you have recompensed us.

The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz beheld.

Lift up a standard on the bare hill, Heighten your voice at them, Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles.

“You are wearied with your many counsels; Let now the astrologers, Those who behold visions by the stars, Those who predict by the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you.

“Behold, they have become like stubble, Fire burns them; They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame; There will be no coal to warm by Nor a fire to sit before!

“Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth; They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing iniquity.

“Raise a loud shout against her on every side! She has given herself up, her pillars have fallen, Her walls have been pulled down. For this is the vengeance of Yahweh: Take vengeance on her; As she has done to others, so do to her.

“I will punish Bel in Babylon, And I will make what he has swallowed come out of his mouth; And the nations will no longer stream to him. Even the wall of Babylon has fallen down!

and then you will say, ‘Just so shall Babylon sink down and not rise again because of the calamity that I am going to bring upon her; and they will become utterly weary.’” Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

“Is it not, behold, from Yahweh of hosts That peoples toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing?
