Jeremiah 29:23

“If you afflict my daughters, or if you take wives besides my daughters, although no man is with us, see, God is witness between you and me.”

And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, “Yahweh is witness between us; surely we will do as you have said.”

“They were well-fed lusty horses, Each one neighing after his neighbor’s wife.

“Has this house, which is called by My name, become a robbers’ den in your sight? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” declares Yahweh.

“Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen an appalling thing: The committing of adultery and walking in lying; And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one has turned back from his evil. All of them have become to Me like Sodom, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

“Send to all the exiles, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, although I did not send him, and he has made you trust in a lie,”

“And you have magnified yourselves with your mouth against Me and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard it.”
