Isaiah 37:29

Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and seized them.

After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

“Can you put a rope in its nose Or pierce its jaw with a hook?

His breath is like an overflowing torrent, Which reaches to the neck, To shake the nations back and forth in a sieve of worthlessness, And to put in the jaws of the peoples the bridle which staggers one to ruin.

And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a heavy military force. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway of the fuller’s field.

Now it happened that when King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and entered the house of Yahweh.

‘By the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he will not come to this city,’ declares Yahweh.

Lord Yahweh has sworn by His holiness that, “Behold, the days are coming upon you, And they will take you away with meat hooks, And the last of you with fish hooks.
