Isaiah 10:11

‘Has any one of the gods of the nations delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?

‘Who was there among all the gods of these nations which my fathers devoted to destruction, who could deliver his people from my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?

Their land has also been filled with idols; They worship the work of their hands, That which their fingers have made.

O Yahweh our God, other masters besides You have ruled us; But through You alone we bring Your name to remembrance.

‘Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And when have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

‘Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, devoting them to destruction. So will you be delivered?

Thus says Yahweh, “Let not a wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast in his might; let not a rich man boast in his riches,

From you has gone forth One who devised evil against Yahweh, A vile counselor.
