Ezra 9:15

and I said, “O my God, I am ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have multiplied above our heads and our guilt has become great even to the heavens.

“But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from Yahweh our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a little reviving in our slavery.

But You, You are fearsome; And who can stand in Your presence when once You are angry?

Gracious is Yahweh, and righteous; And our God is compassionate.

Righteous are You, O Yahweh, And upright are Your judgments.

Righteous are You, O Yahweh, when I would plead my case with You; Indeed I would speak matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked succeeded? Why are all those who deal in treachery complacent?

‘Even when their survivors escape, they will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each over his own iniquity.
