Exodus 34:15

“And he who sacrifices to any god, other than to Yahweh alone, shall be devoted to destruction.

“They have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them. They have made for themselves a molten calf and have worshiped it and have sacrificed to it and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!’”

“And they shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat demons with which they play the harlot. This shall be a perpetual statute to them throughout their generations.”’

Indeed they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

“Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.

so that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done for their gods, so that you would sin against Yahweh your God.

And Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers; and this people will arise and play the harlot with the foreign gods of the land, into the midst of which they are going, and they will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have cut with them.

“For if you ever turn back and cling to the rest of these nations, these which remain among you, and intermarry with them, so that you go along with them and they with you,

and they took their daughters for themselves as wives and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.

from the nations concerning which Yahweh had said to the sons of Israel, “You shall not go along with them, nor shall they go along with you, for they will surely turn your heart away after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love.

But they acted unfaithfully against the God of their fathers and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.

‘So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters to your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it as a possession to your sons forever.’

In those days I also saw that the Jews had married women from Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.

For, behold, those who are far from You will perish; You have destroyed everyone who is unfaithful to You.

but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from sexual immorality and from what is strangled and from blood.
