Exodus 17:7

Those were the waters of Meribah because the sons of Israel contended with Yahweh, and He proved Himself holy among them.

“You shall not put Yahweh your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.

“Again at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah you provoked Yahweh to wrath.

Of Levi he said, “Let Your Thummim and Your Urim belong to Your holy one, Whom You tested at Massah, With whom You contended at the waters of Meribah;

“You called in distress and I rescued you; I answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
